Slightly curved valve is very long and narrow with large swollen ends that have distinct terminal nodules on the ventral margin; apices are rounded to slightly wedge-shaped; jelly pores are apparent; fine striae are distinctly punctate; marginal spines in valve, about 5 in 10µm; differs from Desmogonium kurtiana (Grun.) Patrick by the shape of valve ends and length; length is 140-240µm, breadth is 5-7µm; striae count is 16-19 in 10µm
