Description:
Valve is weakly symmetrical dorsi-ventrally, lanceolate with weakly convex dorsal and ventral margins and narrowly capitate or rounded ends that may or may not have dorsal or ventral constriction; axial area is narrow and linear, central area is missing; raphe is filiform, with proximal ends pointing dorsally, and distal ends ventrally recurved; dorsal and ventral striae are radial throughout, evenly spaced on both sides of the raphe, and as far apart in the middle as at the poles; length is 10-25µm, breadth is 3.4-4.5µm (maximum length-to-width ratio is 5.6:1); striae count is 23-26 in 10µm (36-45 punctae in 10µm)
