Description:
Valve is broadly elliptical in shape, with broadly rounded apices; raphe is filiform, with broad to rounded proximal ends; central area formed by raphe and axial area is "H-shaped"; axial area wide in the middle (convex), tapering towards valve ends and variable in breadth; distinctly punctate on edge of axial area, with some populations having two rows of punctae; punctate striae more or less parallel in the middle, becoming more radiate towards valve ends; length is 20-50µm, breadth is 12-23µm; striae count is 14-17 in 10µm (20-28 punctae in 10µm)
Notes:
some specimens have larger length and breadth values than type
