Description:
Valve is slightly arched, narrowly lanceolate, narrowing toward rounded or somewhat capitate ends which do not follow general valve contour and thus appear to bend back (valve is generally long and slender); terminal nodules and raphe are distinct, but usually small; species is quite similar to E. curvata, except it differs in its length-to-breadth ratio, which is 27:1 or more (it also differs from E. glacialis in this feature); length is 45-130µm, breadth is 1.5-3.5µm; striae count is 14-20 in 10µm
