Description:
Valves semi-lanceolate with protracted rostrate to slightly capitate ends. Dorsal margin convex, sometimes fattened at the center. Ventral margin straight. Raphe branches straight, proximal and distal ends deflected dorsally. Axial area narrow, linear. Central area transversely expanded, rectangular, reaching the dorsal and ventral margins. Dorsal striae composed of series of transapical rectangular poroid areolae, slightly radiate, interrupted at the center by a transapical fascia and interrupted by longitudinal hyaline areas running along the axial area. Ventral striae short, interrupted at the center, hardly resolvable under LM.
Notes:
Found in surface sediments at Nine Mile Bank and Sprigger Bank in Florida Bay with water depth < 1.5m and salinity ranging between 30 – 35ppt.
