Description:
Valve semi-lanceolate with drown out sub-capitate to capitate poles. Dorsal margin usually strongly convex, ventral margin straight or slightly concave. Raphe filiform, located close to the ventral margin. Raphe branches straight or slightly sloping upwards from the poles to the central nodule. Central pores small, but visible under LM. Distal ends bent dorsally; proximal ends sometimes bent, but to a lesser degree. Axial area very narrow, linear, central area absent on the dorsal side, more developed on the ventral side. Dorsal striae distinctly punctate, more or les straight at the centre, becoming radiate towards the poles. Ventral striae barely visible under LM.
