Description:
Valves semi-lanceolate with obtusely rounded ends slightly bent ventrally. Dorsal margin convex, ventral margin slightly inflated in the middle. Raphe branches slightly dorsally arcuate. Terminal fissures hooked dorsally, central fissures bent towards the dorsal side. Axial area narrow. Central area small. Dorsal striae slightly radiate in the central part of the valve becoming more radiate towards the ends, depressed above the central nodule, composed of perl-like openings. Ventral striae slightly radiate near the center becoming slightly convergent near the ends.
Notes:
Common in coastal mangroves near Biscayne Bay and at Trout Cove in Florida Bay with salinity 20 – 25 ppt. and water level < 1m.
