Description:
Valve semi-lunate with protracted, sub-rostrate to sub-capitate, more or less ventrally deflected poles, 5-20µm long, 3-8µm broad. Dorsal margin convex, ventral margin varies between linear and convex. Raphe filiform, located close to the ventral margin. Raphe branches mostly straight, but in some examples they can be slightly arched ventrally at the central part of the valve and then sloping gently upwards to the central nodule. Central nodule is well visible under LM. Axial area very narrow, central area absent on the dorsal side, on the ventral side present but very small. Transapical striae on the dorsal side very compact, almost straight at the centre, becoming radiate towards the ends, about 30 in 10µm. Ventral striae not visible under LM.
