In the middle of each subplot porewater samples for nutrient and sulfide analyses were collected repeatedly over 14 years next to physical data. The null hypothesis is that there is no difference between the six mangrove sites that were monitored. Two (20*20 m) plots per site in the mangrove forest are divided in four 10*10 m subplots, samples are taken in the middle of each subplot. Porewaters are sampled and physical data are measured 2-3 times a year in the middle of each subplot. Method Step Description Porewater samples were taken with a porewater sipper in the middle of each subplot. Sulfide samples were preserved in the field with a buffer solution and analyzed in the lab using a standard curve and a voltage meter connected to an Orion sulfide probe. Concentrations of orthophosphate, ammonium, nitrite and nitrate were determined using either a spectrophotometer, a Lachat auto analyzer or an OI analytical auto analyzer. Apha standard methods (1992) were used to derive the nutrient concentrations. Submission notes: Sampling on site TS/Ph8 has been cancelled since January 2007. Sampling on sites TS/Ph6 & 7 was resumed on May 2010. Instrumentation YSI voltage meter and sulfide probe spectrophotometer OI analytical auto-analyzer Lachat auto-analyzer Quality Control Dataset QA/QC performed during analysis of samples; samples with 5% between lab replicates were redone; data is graphed to check for outliers and checked by second scientist Distribution Online distribution: https://pasta.lternet.edu/package/data/eml/knb-lter-fce/1171/13/d99ac76b47918ea4050e7931ca574246 Intellectual Rights This information is released under the Creative Commons license - Attribution - CC BY (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). The detection limit for sulfides is 0.003 mM. Values below detection limit are considered zero. Dataset Anomalies Sampling on site TS/Ph8 has been cancelled since January 2007.
