Dataset title: Water Temperature, Salinity and other physical measurements taken at Shark River, Everglades National Park (FCE LTER) from February 2010 to March 2014 Dataset ID: PHY_Rosenblatt_002 Research type: Long-Term Physical Dataset Creator Name: Mr. Adam Rosenblatt Address: 3000 NE 151 St North Miami, FL 33181 USA Phone: 305-919-4263 Fax: 305-919-4030 Email: arose007@fiu.edu URL: http://adam.rosenblatt.googlepages.com/home Metadata Provider Organization: Florida Coastal Everglades LTER Program Address: Florida International University University Park OE 148 Miami, FL 33199 USA Phone: 305-348-6054 Email: fcelter@fiu.edu URL: http://fcelter.fiu.edu Dataset Abstract In early 2010 we established three new permanent water quality monitoring stations in the Shark River Estuary. These stations expanded FCE's spatial coverage in terms of salinity and also established the first continuous dissolved oxygen monitoring in the estuary. The Sondes collected temperature, salinity, depth, and dissolved oxygen data every 30 minutes. Method Step Description Water data was collected by three YSI 6920v2 Sondes positioned approximately 10cm above the river bottom. The Sondes collected temperature, salinity, depth, and dissolved oxygen data every 30 minutes. Instrumentation 6920v2 Sondes (YSI, Yellow Springs, OH) Quality Control All data sets were combed for obvious outlier data points by Adam Rosenblatt and all outliers were removed from the data sets. Data points were also periodically independently verified in the field at each site using a YSI handheld multiparameter water quality instrument. The reason is that the temp gauge on the TB monitor malfunctioned and recorded incorrect temp readings after 17:30:31 on December 15, 2010.
