Dataset AbstractDepth is measured at 3 random locations within each net at time of set. All other variables (salinity, temperature, dissolved oxygen) are measured at the river bank adjacent to each net also at the time of set. Minimum and maximum values for sites were found to be: Salinity(ppt) = SRSMc-S2: 0.3-14.7, SRSMc-S3: 15.6-34.4, SRSMc-S4: 2.4-34; Water temp(degrees C)= SRSMc-S2: 22.2-31.5, SRSMc-S3: 16.6-31.1, SRSMc-S4: 21.1-30.6; DO(mg/l)= SRSMc-S2: 2.55-5.27, SRSMc-S3: 2.08-5.3, SRSMc-S4: 1.25-4.2; Mean depth(cm)= SRSMc-S2: 0.0-24.6, SRSMc-S3: 5.7-41.5, SRSMc-S4: 0.0-21.4

MethodsSampling Description
Lift nets (6m2) were set at high tide and nekton collected at low tide in trenches bordering each net. Three nets were set at each site, and physical parameters were taken at each site: water depth, salinity, water temperature and dissolved oxygen. Three permanent plots per site, nets folded into aluminum trenches set in the forest floor and deployed remotely from boardwalks.
Method Step
Description
2 x 3 m2 bottomless lift nets (Rozas 1992, Bottomless lift net for sampling nekton on intertidal marshes. Mar Ecol Prog Ser 89: 287-92.); K-S test for length-frequency dist., RM ANOVA for site differences.

Instrumentation
YSI Meter model # 85/10Quality Control
Equipment calibration; Electronic files are checked against raw data

These data are classified as 'Type II' whereby original FCE LTER experimental data collected by individual FCE researchers to be released to restricted audiences according to terms specified by the owners of the data. Type II data are considered to be exceptional and should be rare in occurrence. The justification for exceptions must be well documented and approved by the lead PI and Site Data Manager. Some examples of Type II data restrictions may include: locations of rare or endangered species, data that are covered under prior licensing or copyright (e.g., SPOT satellite data), or covered by the Human Subjects Act, Student Dissertation data and those data related to the FCE LTER Program but not funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) under LTER grant #DEB-9910514. Researchers that make use of Type II Data may be subject to additional restrictions to protect any applicable commercial or confidentiality interests. All publications based on this dataset must cite the data Contributor, the Florida Coastal Everglades Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) Program and that this material is based upon work supported by the National Science Foundation through the Florida Coastal Everglades Long-Term Ecological Research program under Cooperative Agreements #DEB-1237517, #DBI-0620409, and #DEB-9910514. Additionally, two copies of the manuscript must be submitted to the Florida Coastal Everglades LTER Program Office, LTER Program Manager, Florida International University, Southeast Environmental Research Center, OE 148, University Park, Miami, Florida 33199.
