  • Dataset Abstract
Rain level is recorded at least every thirty minutes at the sites SRS 1d, SRS 2 & SRS 3. Not active sites are: SRS 1a and SRS 1c. Rain level data is collected using a tipping bucket rain gauge (SUTRON 5600-0425) attached to ISCO autosamplers, which also act as dataloggers. We condense these data into daily cumulative rainfall, although hourly rain level data are also available.

  • Methods
    Sampling Description
Rain level recorders are connected to ISCO autosamplers. The accuracy of the rain level recorders are 0.01 in. The autosampler queries the rain level recorder at least every 30 minutes for rain data. The rain level data is downloaded from the ISCO autosampler using a Dell 3800 laptop. The software used to download the information is ISCO Flowlink 3.23. To get one rain level reading per day, all the rain data is downloaded into Micosoft Excel, and the readings for a day are summed. Rain data is then transformed from inches to centimeters by multiplying the numbers by 2.54.

    Submission notes:
At SRS1a for the listed dates, 5% or more of the sample intervals were missing at the moment to calculate daily sums: 13-Feb-01, 31-Jul-01, 01-Aug-01, 28-Feb-02, 19-Dec-02, 21-Jan-03, 03-Dec-03, and 04-Jan-05.
At SRS1c for the listed dates, 5% or more of the sample intervals were missing at the moment to calculate daily sums: 16-Mar-05, 23-May-05, 10-Nov-05, and 05-Jan-06.
At SRS1d for the listed dates, 5% or more of the sample intervals were missing at the moment to calculate daily sums: 09-Jul-08.
    At SRS2 for the listed dates, 5% or more of the sample intervals were missing at the moment to calculate daily sums: 10-Feb-02, 11-Feb-02, 11-May-02, 12-May-02, 06-Jun-02, 24-Sep-02, 25-Sep-02, 18-Oct-02, 02-May-03, 03-May-03, 04-May-03, 05-May-03, 15-May-03, 09-Dec-03, 09-Feb-06, 09-Jul-08, 13-Sep-11, and 01-Dec-22.
At SRS3 for the listed dates, 5% or more of the sample intervals were missing at the moment to calculate daily sums: 10-Feb-02, 07-May-02, 12-Jul-02, 21-Aug-02, 18-Oct-02, 01-Sep-06, 04-Oct-07, 08-Oct-07, 10-Jan-08, 24-Jun-08 and 08-Jul-08.
SRS 2 precipitation data from 01-Apr-2014 through 30-Sep-2014 was collected by a rain level gauge located 350 meters NE (Latitude: 25.5519, longitude: -80.7826) from SRS 2.

    Instrumentation
ISCO autosamplers, Tipping Bucket Rain Gauge (SUTRON 5600-0425), Dell 3800 notebook

    Quality Control
Data that is downloaded from ISCO is checked for errors (Code from "Flowlink" is 255) and for proper data intervals (every 30 minutes) using Microsoft Excel. Formula used to sum daily rain is as follows: [=IF({hour column}=0,SUM({48 rows of rain values}),"")]
