  • Dataset Abstract
Once a year during the dry season (Dec-May) three live sawgrass plants are collected from each site. These plants are divided into their live above and live below ground parts. Then both the above and below ground parts are analyzed for TN, TC, and TP.

  • Methods
    Sampling Description
Three live random sawgrass plants were collected from each site. Plants were stored in a freezer for later analysis. After plants were defrosted, they were separated between into live above and live below gorund material. Below ground material was washed to remove any sediment attached. Then, plants were placed in an oven at 70oC for 72 hours. After the plant material was dry, it was ground up for nutrient analysis using a whiley mill. Material was stored in 7mL vials. The analysis of TN & TC was done using the a Carlo Erba elemental auto-analyzer.

Field data are written in pencil on waterproof paper and photocopied upon return to the laboratory. They are then entered into the appropriate digital format. These data are reviewed in hard copy and digital format by the lab manager. Laboratory data are written in pencil on waterproof paper, photocopied prior to computer entry and then entered digitally in duplicate and cross-referenced to hard copy notes. Data outliers, determined by comparison to long-term variance in that parameter, are highlighted in resulting spreadsheets for examination by the principal investigator, who may discard the values.
