Abstract:
The Florida Coastal Everglades LTER sites dataset includes points for all of the Florida Coastal Everglades LTER sites.
Purpose:
The Florida Coastal Everglades LTER sites dataset was created in August 2003 to represent the locations of all of the FCE LTER sites. The dataset was updated in June 2005 to include SRS-1c and in March 2006 to include SRS-1d.

Horizontal precision ranged from 0.838 to 1.572 for sites with differentially corrected coordinates (SRS 1b, SRS 3-6, all TS/Ph sites) . Uncorrected site coordinates (SRS 1a, SRS 2) had horizontal precision values of 5.811 and 5.769, respectively. Horizontal precision is unknown for the SRS 1c coordinates recorded in December 2004 and the SRS 1d coordinates recorded in January 2006.

Process_Description:
GPS coordinates were recorded at all FCE LTER sites except SRS 1c using a GeoExplorer 3. At each site, the GPS unit recorded 93-104 positions, horizontal precision, and maximum PDOP. The average position was differentially corrected at all sites except SRS 1a, SRS 1c and SRS 2. A point shapefile of the site locations was created from the coordinates using Pathfinder Office.

GPS coordinates were recorded at SRS 1c on December 1, 2004. The GPS unit used to record the coordinates and the accuracy of the coordinates are unknown. The coordinates were converted from decimal degrees to UTM and added to the dbf table of site coordinates collected in August 2003. A new shapefile of all of FCE LTER site coordinates was created using ArcView 3.3 and ArcMap 9.
